The formulae of letting go: as a distinct live band and after spending two years on the road, Omni Selassi wanted to save their chaotic stage energy on a sound carrier. Dance or Dye was supposed to be a live album captured in a row of ad hoc studios, raw and organic, recorded naturally, as a matter of course. It all turned out differently: it has become a layered work of back room, studio, and field recordings, at times close to pop, then again just past it, with a strong affirmative towards experimentation. Music overgrown by the desire to go astray. A somewhat maimed kind of pop.

Perhaps this album is a misunderstanding with a constructive outcome, the simultaneity of opposing forces: from their chaos of instrument cables Rea Dubach (voc, git, efx), Mirko Schwab (dr, autoharp, git) and Lukas Rutzen (dr, perc, synth) and by grinding through multiple layers have created a polished stumbling block. So, is this pop in the end? Why bother?
